Traveling Options

Since many of our guests are coming from Iceland and other places around the world, we want to provide useful travel information about possible routes that can be taken to get to Dayton, Ohio. These options below are only recommended routes. Please feel free to contact us if you have more questions and we will assist in any way we can!

Option #1: Flying from Iceland to Dayton, Ohio

The shortest, most direct route to arrive in Dayton, Ohio is to fly from Keflavik International Airport (KEF) to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Dayton International Airport (DAY). This option has the shortest number of flights (2) and will take you right into Dayton, Ohio.

Option #2: Flying from Iceland to Columbus, Ohio

The second flight option involves a short drive. There are many flights available that can take 2-3 flights to get to the Columbus International Airport (CMH) in Columbus, Ohio. Once you have arrived in Columbus, Ohio, you will need to drive approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to Dayton, Ohio. A benefit of flying into Columbus, rather than Dayton, is that you may find flights slightly cheaper coming in through Columbus. You can also take a very similar route by flying into Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG) and driving also approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to Dayton, Ohio.

Option #3: Flying from Iceland to Boston, Massachusetts

For the Adventurous Wedding Guest
This option is for our wedding guests who like to stay in cities, shop, and go to amusement parks! Boston is a favorite traveling destination for many Icelanders. This travel option is for our adventurous wedding guests! Loftur recommends flying from Keflavik International Airport (KEF) to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and spending a night or two in Boston, then driving 14+ hours to Dayton, Ohio. During that drive, Loftur recommends stopping at Niagara Falls, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio, and finally ending in Dayton, Ohio. This route may require staying the night in Sandusky to be able to spend a full day at Cedar Point. See Loftur's recommended route.

Option #4: Flying from Iceland to Washington DC

Heather's Recommended Traveling Option
For the Adventurous Wedding Guest
This option is for our wedding guests who are interested in historical sightseeing and visiting national parks. Heather recommends flying from Keflavik International Airport (KEF) to Dulles International Airport (IAD) and spending a night or two in the capitol of the USA; Washington DC. There you can visit many national monuments and museums. Heather recommends stopping at Shenandoah National Park on the way to Dayton, Ohio. The Skyline Drive at Shenandoah National Park is serene and perfect for the summer. You could even camp there for a night or two on your way to Dayton, Ohio. This drive totals around 11+ hours, check out Heather's recommended route for option #4.
